Ford Action by Ghia
Weird Car of the Day #374: 1978 Ford Action by Ghia – Zero-dynamic

A short one today, because thought I’ve gone back into both Ford and Ghia’s back catalogues, what could be better than a 1:1 scale mockup of the ultimate wedgelord car?
This dramatic, Filippo Sapino-penned wedge was conceived and built under Ford’s reign at Ghia, where the Italian studio seemingly conceived of and built dozens of concept cars that served no purpose but to help the American design team look “good”.

1983-1984 Ford Barchetta by Ghia, front drive prototype… • Scott Grundfor Company
Sapino is likely best known for one of his last works, the 1983 Ford Barchetta concept, a car that would foreshadow the Fiat Barchetta, Mazda MX-5 Miata, BMW Z3, and others.
A few years earlier, however, he penned this mid-engined* beast of a car, with a then-fashionable wedge-shaped fibreglass body.
